The High Flyer Guidelines provide an experienced and informed set of tools and resources for ESOs to support young entrepreneurs scale and grow existing businesses and create jobs.

By using these guidelines your organisation will be able to help young entrepreneurs:
  • Grow their existing businesses through increased revenue
  • Increase the number of jobs created and sustained 

The guidelines will support you to learn how to measure the impact of your organisation’s support to young entrepreneurs’ growth and better understand your impact over time.

What is a High Flyer?

A ‘High Flyer’ is a young entrepreneur between the ages of 18 and 35 who has at least one of the following characteristics:

  • Has been operational for more than a year
  • Is motivated to grow and/scale their existing business
  • Has a high average annualised growth rate or is in the midst of rapid business expansion.
  • Are active in a sector and/or have an offering for which there is likely to be sustained and/or increased demand
High Flyers look different in every context but share ambition, resilience, and a drive to grow. They matter because they are ambitious, individual entrepreneurs, but also because their growth benefits the whole community.

The High Flyers Guidelines will:

  • Identify areas to strengthen your current programming to support young entrepreneurs with high-growth potential
  • Provide a set of resources to adapt your current support for entrepreneurs in the growth stage
  • Showcase examples of best practice across the Guideline areas
  • Serve as a set of self-led resources across the six Guideline areas for you to access throughout and beyond the programme
