At Youth Business International (YBI), we are committed to making the
EYE Academy accessible, inclusive, and empowering for everyone who accesses the platform and its included content/resources. We want all users to enjoy a seamless and supportive learning experience regardless of role, background, or ability.
We acknowledge that the Academy is not yet fully accessible. However, we are actively working to improve its design and delivery, guided by our commitment to continuous learning, member feedback, and inclusive innovation.
As we deliver the EYE Academy through our digital learning environment, we are proactively aligning our content, services, and user experience with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 and the POUR principles—ensuring that the platform is:
- Perceivable: Information and learning resources are available in formats that accommodate diverse sensory needs, including screen-reader compatibility, captions, and alternative text.
-
Operable: Navigation and interaction are designed to be user-friendly and fully accessible, including for those using keyboards or assistive technologies.
-
Understandable: All content is structured clearly and delivered in accessible language, with additional guidance provided where needed.
-
Robust: The platform is compatible with a wide range of technologies, ensuring consistent and reliable access across contexts and over time.
We believe that access to high-quality entrepreneurship support should be universal. Our vision for the EYE Academy is to provide a
globally inclusive learning environment, enabling everyone who accesses it to engage meaningfully, confidently, and equitably. By removing barriers to digital learning and collaboration, we strengthen our collective ability to support inclusive, sustainable, and impactful youth entrepreneurship.
This accessibility statement applies to the EYE Academy, run by Youth Business International and supplied by LearnWorlds: https://eyeacademy.youthbusiness.org/
We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- Zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
-
Navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
-
Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We recognise that achieving full accessibility is a continuous journey. While we are actively working to ensure that all aspects of the platform meet WCAG 2.1 standards, some content or features may not yet fully align with these guidelines. Where gaps exist, we are committed to offering appropriate alternatives and improvements.

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). If you’re not happy with how we respond to your complaint, contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
Youth Business International is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 , A standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.
Discernible text
We have identified the following areas of non-compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard:
Topbar ‘Contact Us’ Button: This button currently does not include discernible text, which fails the WCAG criterion requiring that links have accessible, readable labels. The HTML source contains a notice indicating the element cannot be directly modified within our content management interface.
Search Buttons on Catalogue Pages: On pages including the Young Entrepreneur Catalogue and Support Organisation Catalogue, the search buttons also do not contain discernible text. This limitation appears across all pages that deploy the same dynamic component, and the HTML source contains a notice indicating the element cannot be directly modified within our content management interface.
Embedded iFrames: On course pages like Hello Design Thinking, and any other pages that embed content using iFrames, we have identified the issue that “Frames must have an accessible name.” Unfortunately, due to the locked nature of the iframe components, we are unable to assign accessible names or attributes.
This may affect the ability of screen reader users to identify and navigate these links effectively.
We acknowledge these limitations and understand their impact on accessibility. However, these issue stems from platform-level constraints and is not within YBI’s direct control. We are actively engaging with our platform provider to advocate for improvements that ensure all users have equitable access to the full functionality of the EYE Academy.
Ambiguous button labelling Ambiguous button labelling may be present within resources where the following engagement blocks have been used: Video, Labelled graphics & Flashcard grids (other inclusions may apply here).
Where ambiguous button labelling is present, we are unable to amend these due to software restrictions within the authoring tool used. YBI seeks to minimise the use of these blocks and/or limit the volume of blocks per lesson to support accessibility standards.
This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.1.1 (Non-text content).
SEER Refugee and Migrant Entrepreneurship Toolkit:The SEER Toolkit, included as part of the EYE Academy, is currently not compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). This is because the toolkit is externally developed and hosted on a third-party platform (Notion) that is not owned or controlled by Youth Business International (YBI). As a result, YBI does not have the ability to edit or evaluate the accessibility features of the SEER Toolkit at this time.
While we are committed to ensuring all EYE Academy content is accessible and inclusive, please note that this specific resource has not yet been assessed against WCAG criteria.
YBI recognises the importance of digital accessibility and is planning the redevelopment of the SEER Toolkit to meet WCAG standards in the future. In the interim, we welcome any feedback or requests for alternative formats of the toolkit and will do our best to accommodate individual needs wherever possible.
Sustainability Toolkit:
The Sustainability Toolkit, included as part of the EYE Academy, is currently not compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). This is because the toolkit is externally developed and hosted on a third-party platform (Notion).
While we are committed to ensuring all EYE Academy content is accessible and inclusive, please note that this specific resource has not yet been assessed against WCAG criteria.
YBI recognises the importance of digital accessibility and is planning the redevelopment of the Sustainability Toolkit to meet WCAG standards in the future. In the interim, we welcome any feedback or requests for alternative formats of the toolkit and will do our best to accommodate individual needs wherever possible.
PDFs and other documents
The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.
We plan for new PDFs or Word documents that we publish to meet accessibility standards.
Live video
We plan to add captions to live video streams; however, we do not commit to this feature being applied to every stream, as live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.
If you experience any difficulties while using the EYE Academy or have suggestions for improving accessibility, we welcome your feedback and are here to support you.
