What is Prompt Engineering
A prompt is either a question or a statement directed at an Artificial intelligence (AI) model, like ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini, with the aim of eliciting a specific response or action. These AI models, known as AI chatbot models, have been trained to understand language, code, and images. They can also generate text in response.
The art of creating these prompts is known as prompt engineering. It’s akin to programming an AI Chatbot. You provide structured instructions or examples of how to complete a task. If you’ve ever used voice assistants like Siri or Alexa, you’ve already practised a simple form of prompt engineering. By strategically choosing specific words, phrases, and symbols, we can more effectively steer the responses of these chatbots.
